I went for an hour of yoga at the gym this evening. I really love tree pose because it requires intense concentration — you need to stare at a stationary spot (not your stomach in the mirror, as I’ve done before and toppled over) to maintain your focus and balance. It doesn’t matter so much how high you get the foot of your bent leg, what matters is you maintain your balance.

Balance exercises, for me, are the ones during which I can completely block out all of the noise in my head because I’m forced to focus so intently on not falling.
